Why Carmarthenshire?
Carmarthenshire sits between Pembrokeshire and the Brecon Beacons. What it has that its better-known neighbours don't is space and quiet, and a certain authenticity. Fewer tourists. Cheaper produce markets. A Welsh welcome nobody is putting on.
The Best Time to Visit
Spring (March–May): Wildflowers line the coastal paths, lambs dot the fields, and you'll have many of the best beaches to yourself.
Summer (June–August): Peak season — golden evenings, warm enough for hot tub-soaking under the stars. Book early.
Autumn (September–October): Our favourite. The colours are extraordinary and the light over the Tâf Estuary at dusk is unforgettable. Fewer crowds, same luxury.
Winter (November–February): A completely different magic. The quiet, your private hot tub steaming in the cold air, the sense of escape. Laugharne transforms into a windswept treasure.
Must-Visit Local Spots
- Laugharne Castle: One of the most underrated castles in Wales. Explore the ruins above the estuary for free.
- Brown's Hotel, Laugharne: Dylan Thomas's favourite pub. Perfectly preserved, still serves an excellent pint.
- Pendine Beach: 7 miles of sand. Go on a weekday and you may have it completely to yourself.
- The Corran, Laugharne: The best restaurant in the area. Farm-to-fork, locally sourced, worth every penny.
What to Pack
For glamping in Wales, always bring:
- Layers (weather changes fast on the coast)
- Waterproof walking boots
- A good book for rainy afternoons
- An appetite — there are some extraordinary local producers nearby
